This course is for parents, guardians or teachers who are supporting a student with this subject. 

We have included everything necessary for success in this subject, which is part of the Cambridge Pathway. This includes assignment marking, video explainers, unit overviews, lesson by lesson ideas to meet the requirements for this level and additional links to useful resources. 

At every stage of the course you will be invited to submit an assignment for marking by an approved Gaia Learning educator to get feedback on the students progress and areas for development. 

Upon completion you will be offered a certificate to demonstrate student success.

What will students learn?

Your child will develop a holistic understanding of the subject, focussing on principles, patterns, systems, functions and relationships. They will become mathematically competent and fluent in computation, which they can apply to everyday situations.

‘Thinking and working mathematically’, a unique feature of our curriculum, encourages learners to talk with others, challenge ideas and to provide evidence that validates conjectures and solutions. When learners are thinking and working mathematically, they actively seek to make sense of ideas and build connections between different facts, procedures and concepts. This supports higher order thinking that helps them to view the world in a mathematical way.

How is the programme taught?

We have divided this subject into three main areas called ‘strands’, which run through every primary mathematics stage. Learners will develop skills in:

  • Number.
  • Geometry and Measure.
  • Statistics and Probability.

The strands work together to help students recognise connections of mathematical concepts as they engage in creative mathematical thinking to generate and improve numerical fluency.

With this course, students will be provided individual and customised access to a range of subscriptions and course books in digital format including Britannica School.  These fully cover the exam syllabus and/or the English National Curriculum, and are usually endorsed by the relevant exam board.
